  REVIEW:

Remember the movie Dodgeball?  Well, like with all the classics, now on tour . . . Dodgeball on Ice – or, as it’s better known, Blades of Glory.

Blades of Glory stars Will Ferrell and John Heder and is produced by Ben Stiller. Will and John are the two most unlikely ice skating champions that ever appeared on ice.  John has a feminine like quality to his skating and Will takes the he-man approach.  Both are determined to win gold at the Olympics.  Which they both do, until they break out in a fist fight on the winner’s podium.  As punishment, they are stripped of the gold and are banned from ever skating again in Men’s figure skating.  No problem, because Craig T. Nelson plays a coach that decides to make history by putting them together in the first ever all men’s pair team.  But to get to the Olympics again, the team must win Nationals then compete for gold.  They face more than just learning to tolerate each other, they face bad guys, unexpected love and some pretty wicked stunts on the ice.

Will Ferrell is hilarious in Old School, and Jon Heder as Napoleon Dynamite is an undeniable classic.  Otherwise, though, we’re a little skeptical of both – and especially the two of them together!  But, they nailed it – like maybe a 5.9 from the Soviet judge!  Blades of Glory is funny, and uses the proven formula of Dodgeball, another Ben Stiller produced movie.  It’s definitely absurd, but with enough really creative wit and satire to make it work.  Audiences looking for more fun than message are certain to enjoy Blades of Glory.

  MOVIE NIGHT TRAFFIC LIGHT:

On the Movie Night Traffic Light on a scale of GREEN meaning “Go – it’s a must see”, YELLOW meaning “Caution – it’s okay” and RED meaning “No - stop don’t do it."

We rate Blades of Glory GREEN.  Go – this is ridiculous humor that is fun.
